    Appointment of Professor Eric Cheng as YCCECE Vice President (Academic)

    • YCCECE today announced the appointment of Professor Eric Cheng Chi-Keung as Vice President (Academic). Professor Cheng has held various leadership positions, including his most recent role as Associate Dean (Quality Assurance and Enhancement) at the Faculty of Education and Human Development at The Education University of Hong Kong. He joins the President’s Office of the College, led by the President, Professor Allan Yuen, and includes the Vice President (Administration), Dr Frank Lam. 

       

      As the new Vice-President (Academic), Professor Cheng will play a pivotal role in developing and executing the College's academic plans, managing both short-term and long-term strategies, policies, regulations, and administration related to both teaching and research. He will also be responsible for implementing the College's quality assurance policies and processes.

       

      Professor Yuen said, “We are delighted to welcome Professor Cheng to the team. He is a leader in knowledge management and transfer, from strategy to execution. I have full confidence in him that he will further strengthen our academic quality, and enable us to reach ever greater heights.”

       

      Professor Cheng earned his Doctor of Education in Education Management from the University of Leicester. He has held esteemed positions such as ExCo and Council Member of the World Association of Lesson Studies, editor for the International Journal of Learning and Teaching and the International Journal of Educational Administration and Policy Studies (IJEAPS), and Doctoral Thesis Examiner at the University of Technology Sydney, the University of Johannesburg, Nottingham University, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the City University of Macau etc. Additionally, he serves as an external examiner and course assessor for the Metropolitan University of Hong Kong, and is a member of the Judging Panel for the Hong Kong Most Admirable Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Award. He is also currently serving as an Independent School Manager for two local schools in Hong Kong.

       

      Professor Cheng’s research aims to empower school leaders and teachers by focusing on organisational factors and management strategies, enabling them to effectively utilise pedagogical knowledge assets as intellectual capital for sustainable development and improved student learning outcomes within schools. He has been successful in launching 20 research and/or teaching development projects with external and competitive funds in the capacity of Principal Investigator (PI), including from the Research Grants Council (RGC), University Grants Committee (UGC), Quality Education Fund (QEF), and Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR). He has published 60 papers in international and local journals, authored 10 academic books, and contributed to 13 book chapters. The following are some notable book publications:
