    • The Student Development Office recently organized an immersive three-day cultural study tour from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, held from 28 February  to 2 March. The tour was attended by 17 enthusiastic students from the Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education (HDECE) and Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education (BEdECE) programmes. Here’s a glimpse into our enriching adventure!

      Day 1: Arrival and Exploration
The journey began at Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Station, where the group boarded a high-speed train to Guangzhou East Station. Upon arrival, the students visited the iconic Canton Tower, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the city’s skyline. In the evening, the group explored the vibrant Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, immersing themselves in the rich local culture and historical ambiance.

Day 2: Historical and Cultural Immersion
On the second day, the students visited the picturesque Shamian Island, renowned for its colonial-era architecture that reflects the historical presence of British and French concessions during the Qing Dynasty. The tour continued to Yongqing Fang, a historic district that showcases traditional Cantonese culture and craftsmanship.

The highlight of the day was attending the "Seeds of Hope Concert" at the Guangdong Arts Theatre. This special event brought together talented musicians from across Yew Chung Yew Wah (YCYW) schools, who performed collaboratively for a meaningful cause. The concert featured inspiring performances that left a profound impression on everyone in attendance.

Day 3: Modern and Cultural Landmarks
On the final day, the group visited the awe-inspiring Guangzhou Opera House and the Guangdong Museum. The students captured group photos in front of these architectural marvels and cultural exhibits, creating lasting memories. Before returning to Hong Kong, the group enjoyed some leisure time at Grandview Mall, offering a glimpse into Guangzhou’s contemporary lifestyle.

This study tour provided students with a unique opportunity to explore the seamless blend of historical and modern landmarks, experiencing the dynamic energy and charm of Guangzhou. A particularly memorable aspect was the connection to the Yew Chung Education Foundation’s "Seeds of Hope" initiative, a network-wide charity project that fosters social awareness and action among students. One student shared, "The concert was deeply moving and inspiring—I was captivated throughout the entire performance!"

We look forward to organizing more such enriching experiences in the future!
