Professor Allan Yuen, President of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education, welcomed the measures proposed in the Chief Executive's 2024 Policy Address, which aim to develop Hong Kong into an international hub for high-calibre talent and higher education. These initiatives include a new round of the "Research Matching Grant Scheme," the establishment of the "Northern Metropolis University Town," and the continuation of the "Hong Kong Future Talent Development Scholarship Scheme." These efforts align with the national strategy of "Revitalizing the Country through Science and Education," focusing on building a professional teaching team, fostering educational innovation, nurturing future talent, and contributing to the construction of a strong educational nation.
Professor Yuen stated that the College fully supports government policies aimed at attracting high-calibre talent and promoting the "Study in Hong Kong" brand internationally. He emphasized the importance of drawing more overseas students, particularly from ASEAN countries and other "Belt and Road" nations, through scholarships and other incentives. Professor Yuen expressed hope that private institutions can quickly expand their enrollment of mainland students to further support this vision.
