    EXCURSIONS

YCECDC’s ‘Pamela Peck Discovery Space’ aims to provide schools with an excursion opportunity where learners can engage in dynamic, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate learning environments. These experiences promote language, literacy, mathematics, science, gross and fine motor skills, knowledge and understanding of the world, and creative development.

This platform also allows College students to apply their newly acquired skills while working with young children, offering them valuable experience and quality practice. They are supported by their lecturers, the Centre Director, and the accompanying teachers from the schools.

School excursions also provide opportunity for integrated professional development opportunities, as practitioners explore learning through play, ideas for innovative learning environments, extending children’s interests, as well as promoting creative self-expression and art experiences for young children. YCECDC aims to offer schools professional development that links their planned excursion to up skilling and equipping their staff further through pre-excursion workshops and programmes for their staff. There is scope to allow the school management to ‘tailor make’ the professional development to meet the needs of the school, through collaboration with the YCECDC.
