    YCCECE Visits the School of Education at Shenzhen University to Discuss Collaborative Development

    • On 6 June 2024, Professor Allan Yuen, President of YCCECE, led a delegation to visit the School of Education at Shenzhen University for an exchange meeting. The delegation members included Vice President (Academic) Professor Eric Cheng, Vice President (Administration) Dr. Frank Lam, Director of the CHERI Professor Ping Shi , and Deputy Director of the Mainland Development Department Mr. Kevin Han. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on future collaborative development.

       

      Attendees from the School of Education at Shenzhen University included Party Secretary Professor Chen Li , Deputy Director Associate Professor Penghu Li , Dean and Head of the Early Childhood Education Department Professor  Guoyan Liu, Director of the Education Research Institute Professor Shuying Li, Assistant Professor of the Early Childhood Education Department  Dandan Zhou, and Research Assistant at the Education Research Institute Ms. Hang Wei.

       

      At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Chen Li, Secretary of the School of Education at Shenzhen University, delivered a welcome speech. He stated that the School of Education at Shenzhen University has always valued cooperation with renowned higher education institutions both domestically and internationally, continually enhancing educational quality and academic standards by introducing high-quality resources and advanced concepts. He warmly welcomed the delegation from YCCECE and looked forward to jointly exploring high-quality educational practices and development in the Greater Bay Area.

       

      Following this, Professor Allan Yuen, President of YCCECE, provided a detailed introduction to the college’s educational philosophy, development history, and future cooperation intentions. He pointed out that YCCECE is the first and only higher education institution in Hong Kong and Asia dedicated exclusively to early childhood education. The college offers Bachelor's degrees with honors in Early Childhood Education, Advanced Diplomas in Early Childhood Education, Diploma courses in Early Childhood Studies, and a series of professional development courses for early childhood educators and industry professionals.

       

      Founded by Yew Chung Education Foundation, which has been committed to promoting early childhood and international education for the past 90 years, Yew Chung integrates the essence of both Eastern and Western cultures. Under the leadership of the internationally renowned early childhood educator Dr. Betty Chan, Yew Chung has been a model of quality early childhood education since the 1970s. Therefore, YCCECE has extensive experience and resources in the field of early childhood education and looks forward to deepening cooperation with the School of Education at Shenzhen University in areas such as talent cultivation and academic research, jointly advancing the development of early childhood education in the Greater Bay Area.

       

      Subsequently, Dean Guoyan Liu introduced the basic situation of the School of Education at Shenzhen University and its Early Childhood Education Department. She noted that the School of Education at Shenzhen University has strong capabilities in early childhood education research and teacher training and hopes to collaborate with YCCECE in these areas to further enhance the educational standards and social influence of both institutions.

       

      During the discussion session, representatives from both sides had a lively discussion on areas and specific matters of cooperation. Both parties agreed that future cooperation could be carried out in the following areas: joint training of early childhood educators, collaborative academic research, and organizing educational forums and other activities. Through these collaborations, both sides hope to integrate resources and complement each other's strengths, injecting new vitality into early childhood education in the Greater Bay Area.

       

      Finally, both parties discussed matters related to the inaugural Greater Bay Area Quality Early Childhood Education Forum. This forum aims to bring together experts and scholars in the field of early childhood education from within and outside the region to explore and share the latest research results and practical experiences in early childhood education. Both parties expressed their commitment to actively preparing for the forum, striving to make it a high-level and influential academic event that provides strong support for the development of early childhood education in the Greater Bay Area.
