YCCECE is deeply grateful and humbled to share a heartwarming message: Mr Lai, who dedicated many years of service as a school bus driver at Yew Chung International School in Hong Kong, earned the affection of both colleagues and students alike. Although Mr Lai has passed away, his wife recently sent a heartfelt gift from the United States, contributing to YCCECE’s scholarships and bursaries fund from afar.
This generous gesture from Mrs Lai is rooted in a beloved memory from decades ago. When she and Mr Lai planned to move overseas to reunite with family, Madam Tsang Chor Hang, the founder of the Yew Chung and Yew Wah Schools—affectionately known as "Hau Cheung Po Po," or Principal Grandma—gifted them with financial support to help them transition smoothly.
In honour of Madam Tsang’s act of love, which Mrs Lai has never forgotten, this donation not only embodies the Yew Chung spirit that connects all members and generations of the global Yew Chung Family but also creates a lasting impact on the new generation of ‘Yew Chung Educators’ who will continue to carry the torch forward.
As the new academic year begins, receiving this thoughtful gift is truly inspiring. YCCECE extends its deepest thanks to Mrs Lai and remains committed to honouring Madam Tsang’s legacy, exemplifying her love and compassion in all that they do.
