On 4 December 2024, Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) successfully hosted the "Principal and Career Master Day," an event designed to foster meaningful discussions among school principals and career masters about the updated programs offered by the and the future of Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Hong Kong.
The event began with a welcoming speech from President Professor Kerry Lee, who shared his teaching journey in childhood education. He recounted his beginnings at a private college in Australia, his teaching career at Education University of Hong Kong, and his current role at YCCECE. Professor Lee expressed his aspiration to elevate early childhood education through the strong network and legacy of Yew Chung, both in Hong Kong and globally. He emphasized his belief that a new era of ECE learning is on the horizon, filled with opportunities for innovation and growth.
The day featured two insightful talks from esteemed faculty members of the College. Dr Crystal Zheng presented on the topic of "Enhancing Students' Chances of Getting an Undergraduate Degree." She highlighted case studies demonstrating how students have successfully obtained their degrees through multiple entry points, showcasing the flexibility and support available to them.
Following Dr Zheng's presentation, Dr Bradley Mellen delivered a talk titled "Effective Ways to Boost Students' Language Proficiency and Confidence." He shared compelling statistics on the improvement of students' language skills through personalized tutoring and immersive language environments, illustrating the impact of targeted educational strategies.
The event attracted a diverse group of principals and career masters, primarily from local schools. Attendees expressed their eagerness to gain more information from YCCECE that could benefit their students and explore potential career pathways in early childhood education.
In a nutshell, the "Principal and Career Master Day" served as a valuable platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing, reinforcing the commitment of YCCECE to advance early childhood education in Hong Kong and beyond.
