    • Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) had a strong presence at the PECERA2024 conference, held in Tokyo, Japan from 2-4 August 2024. The College sent a delegation of 19 presenters, including 3 students, who delivered a total of 9 paper presentations and 8 poster presentations.

The PECERA (Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association) Conference is a prestigious annual event that brings together early childhood education researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from around the Pacific region. This year's theme, "Children's well-being founded on reciprocal relationships," resonated deeply with YCCECE's mission and research focus.

"We are extremely proud of our faculty and students who represented YCCECE at this important conference," said Prof Allan Yuen, President of YCCECE. "Their contributions not only showcased our institution's excellence in early childhood education research but also highlighted our commitment to fostering children's well-being through collaborative and reciprocal relationships."

The YCCECE presenters covered a diverse range of topics, including:

      • "Enhancing Pedagogical Knowledge Retention and Creation through Knowledge Management: A Case Study in a Kindergarten in Hong Kong”
      • “A Home-Based Support Program for Underprivileged Families with Infants and Toddlers: Views from Parents”
      • “Impact of Onsite Professional Coaching on Improving Early Childhood Environment in Hong Kong Kindergartens”
      • “Longitudinal Effects of a Large-Scale STEAM Intervention in Early Childhood”
      • “Action Research on Improving Movement Environment Quality Related to Teacher-Child Interaction through the Use of the Movement Environment Rating Scale (MOVERS)”

Several of the YCCECE presentations received high praise from the conference attendees and organizers.

"This conference provided an invaluable opportunity for our faculty and students to engage with their peers from across the Pacific region and share their cutting-edge research," said Prof Yuen. "The insights and connections gained from this experience will undoubtedly enrich our teaching, research, and community outreach efforts back home."

YCCECE's strong performance at PECERA2024 reinforces its reputation as a leading institution in the field of early childhood education. The College's commitment to advancing knowledge and best practices in this crucial area of education continues to be recognized on the global stage.
