• In 2021, Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Nantong University.

• In 2022, the two schools established the “Hong Kong – Nantong Early Years Research Centre”. Since then, both parties have organized several exchanges and visits.

• On 16 October 2023, Dr. Frank Lam, Vice-Principal of YCCECE, led our teachers and students to arrive at Nantong University and carried out a series of fruitful exchange activities.

The "Hong Kong – Nantong Early Years Research Centre", jointly established by the two institutions, is a high-level professional research platform that comprehensively highlights the characteristics of Hong Kong and the quality of Nantong. In a new academic year meeting that was held on the 16th of October, Ms. Zhu Dan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Education Science, Professor Tiemei Xu, Professor Xuehong Miao, Associate Professor Tiantian Han, had a fruitful discussion with our Vice-President Dr Frank Lam, Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of Studies Dr. Qing Liu, and Deputy Director of the Mainland Development Office Mr. Kevin Han.

Focusing on teacher training and collaborative research, participants shared best practices in teaching methods, curriculum design and practical experience, and discussed future ways of cooperation to provide more support for the development of high-quality early education teachers. It also discussed the current research hotspots in the field of early childhood education and tried to promote academic exchanges and cooperation projects between the two schools.

On the same day, Dr. Crystal Zheng, Assistant Professor and Acting Dean of Studies, led 16 students from YCCECE to visit Nantong University, and the students of the two schools carried out exchange activities. During this visit, YCCECE students gained an in-depth understanding of the mainland preschool education curriculum teaching at Nantong University and a rich learning experience. In addition to academic exchange, students also experienced the different learning vibe, learning environment and campus life there. They noticed the cultural similarities and differences between Hong Kong and Shanghai, which enhanced their life experience and broadened their horizons.
